Founded in 1977, the Society serves genealogists of all experience levelsβfrom beginners exploring their family history for the first time to advanced researchers conducting in-depth studies. As a 501(c)(3) California nonprofit, we are committed to preserving historical records, encouraging ethical research practices, and fostering a collaborative community.
The Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for strategic direction, financial oversight and program leadership.

The Marin County Genealogical Society was formed in May 1977 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit California corporation. Over the decades, the Society has supported genealogical research, education and preservation efforts for Marin County and beyond.
